Success Story

Jose Bautista is 21 years old and has lived in the United States for two years. He is the oldest of six children. He came to the U.S. to improve his life leaving behind three brothers and his parents. He lives in Manteca with two of his brothers. Jose drives 45 minutes every day there is a class. He has just missed one class because there was a lot to do at work and he had to stay late.

Jose is one of those students that always brings new vocabulary to school, always turns in homework and asks questions other students won't ask. He is very committed to learning English. He says it’s the only way to have a better life here in the U.S.

Jose mentioned that now he is able to communicate with his boss and his boss pays more attention and notices that he is present because he is able to communicate with him. Jose is very proud because now his boss looks for him to ask how is he doing and he is even teaching him how to order parts for machines he needs at work.

Jose is also very happy and encouraged because he is now able to order food at a restaurant from a menu and he is able to go into a store and ask for help. Jose is very happy and thankful that programs like ours exist.
